Deneb Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Deneb and its developers are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This page is used to inform website visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone who chooses to use the Deneb custom visual for Power BI.

The Deneb Custom Visual

The Deneb custom visual is available for download from either Microsoft Appsource or directly from our GitHub repository.

Data Processing

The custom visual is designed solely for the purpose of visual representation of data. It processes the data provided to it within Power BI to create visualizations. Please note the following:

  • No Data Collection: The visual does not collect any data from users.

  • No Data Transmission: The visual does not send any data to external servers or third parties.

Standalone Version

If the standalone version of the visual is downloaded from our GitHub repository, it allows users to access external services such as images and data URLs. However, no data is sent from the visual to any external servers.

Information Collected by Microsoft

Our Power BI custom visual is available via Microsoft Appsource. When you acquire the visual, certain user information is captured by Microsoft. We recommend reviewing Microsoft's Privacy Policy for detailed information on their data collection practices.

Our Use of Collected Information

We solely use the information collected by Microsoft for the purpose of analyzing download metrics. This helps us understand how our custom visual is being used and improve its functionality. Please note the following:

  • No Marketing Use: We do not use this information for marketing purposes.

  • No Third-Party Sales: The information collected is not sold to third parties.

For any significant details regarding data collection and usage, please refer to Microsoft's privacy policy.

Use of Google Analytics

With your consent, our website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, monitor traffic, and improve our documentation. Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC, or by Google Ireland Limited for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland.

Google Analytics is only loaded if you select Accept on the banner shown on your first visit. If you select Decline, or make no choice, the Google Analytics script is not loaded, no analytics cookies are set, and no data is sent to Google. Where the GDPR applies, consent is our legal basis for this processing.

Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. To change it, use the button below. This clears your choice and any Google Analytics cookies, then reloads the page so the banner shows again.

What Is Collected

If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site, _ga and _ga_<ID>. They hold a random identifier so that repeat visits can be recognized, and they expire after up to two years. Google Analytics also collects:

  • the pages you view and the page that referred you;
  • your browser, device type, screen size and language;
  • your approximate location (country and city).

Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Your IP address is used to estimate your location and is then discarded.

The identifier is random and is not linked to your name, email address or any account. Because it is unique to your browser, however, data linked to it counts as personal data under the GDPR. We use this data only in aggregate to understand site traffic. We do not use it for advertising, and Google's advertising features are turned off.

Retention and Transfers

Google Analytics keeps event-level data for the period set in our Google Analytics settings, which is at most 14 months. After that, only aggregated reports remain. Google may process this data in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Opt-Out

You can also block Google Analytics on every website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

For more information about how Google handles data collected for Google Analytics, please review Google's Privacy Policy.

Embedded Content

Some pages embed YouTube videos and Power BI reports.

  • YouTube: videos are embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). In this mode, YouTube says it does not store information about you unless you play the video. Once you do, Google's Privacy Policy applies.
  • Power BI: embedded reports are loaded from Microsoft and are covered by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

Hosting

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs the IP addresses of visitors to GitHub Pages sites for security purposes. Please see the GitHub General Privacy Statement for details.

Preferences Stored in Your Browser

The site saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme, your preferred documentation version, and your cookie choice. These stay on your device and are not sent to us or anyone else.

Your Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

Analytics data is tied to a random identifier rather than to who you are. The simplest way to stop further data being linked to you is to withdraw consent using the Change cookie preferences button in the Consent section, which deletes that identifier from your browser. For any other request, please contact us.

Our Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately, after they are posted on this page.
